The City is celebrating a milestone for a much anticipated trail addition.
Finishing touches are being put on the Big Sioux River Trail extension.The city held a ribbon cutting Friday.That stretch of the trail will open officially sometime next week.
"It's just another piece of the puzzle, this is three trails yet this year, and we're hoping to continue that trend over the next three or four years, and continue to chip away at our trail connections," says Matt Salvatore from Sioux City Parks and Rec.
The next phase of the trail project will start next year and should be done by 2020.When that's complete, Sioux City will have more than 12 miles of trails along the river.
