Police and medics were dispatched to 26th and Avenue G in Council Bluffs around 6:20 p.m. Sunday night for a child who had been hit by a car.
Officers determined the 9-year-old boy had attempted to cross Avenue G on his bike by cutting between two parked cars, so the driver of a vehicle traveling on the road was unable to see him and struck him.
The boy was not wearing a helmet, but he suffered only minor injuries. He was transported to Nebraska Medicine for a head laceration.
After an investigation, no citations were issued.
Avenue G was closed for 20 minutes while the investigation went on.
