A young life cut too short.

Eight-year-old Kaitlyn Ohnesorge of Dubuque is being remembered as a happy, outgoing little girl who was full of life.

Little Kaitlyn died after doing what many kids love to do. She was riding her bike, but suffered a tragic fall.

Her mother Kathleentells KWWLit happenedin an area behind the family home.

Kaitlyn was showing her family a trick in a grassy, hilly area. She lost control of the bike, rolling over the handle bars, getting jabbed in the abdomen.

The force itself caused severe injuries. Little Kaitlyn's liver was lacerated, and shebleedinternally.

She died Sunday night.

Her mother says the pain from this loss is unimaginable. Also taking it hard, are Kaitlyn's father Abe, her older sister Kyara, and brother Austin.

It's not just Kaitlyn's family dealing with this tragedy.

She was set to start the 3rd grade at Sageville Elementary next week. Principal Jean McDonald says the family is heavily involved with the school, so this loss is tough for staff. They met Tuesday morning, and will be giving support to families and students to help withgrief.

It happened in the 17,000 block of Ballymore Ln. in Dubuque County. The girl was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with critical injuries.

No foul play is suspected.
