In an attempt to raise awareness of this hidden gem of a bike trail the Friends of Carlisle Parks are holding the Carlisle OutBack 10K on August 5. The first 100 10K registrants will be eligible for a $5,000 prize if their finish time matches a predetermined time pre-programmed into the Interactive Promotions website.
The trail is located Out Back behind the middle school on the SW side of Carlisle. This beautifultrail will remind you of the trails around Decorah with hills, switchbacks and more hills. Thetrail connects to the Summerset Trail .4 miles South of the Carlisle Trailhead. Making it to the top of Hard Brake Hill will test your mettle.
The goal is to raise awareness of the trail and funds for trail amenities such as bike stations, benches and signage. Post race food is delicious grilled Pork Chops and sweet corn. Start & Finish of the race is at the CarlisleMiddle School 325 Scotch Ridge Rd.
