It's time to leave the car at home and take your bike to work.
Bike to Work Day will be May 20 in Sioux City. The event is the final day of Bike to Work Week, which begins Monday.
Participants are encouraged to share their experience and photos on social media using the hashtag #SCBike2Work.
Each time a person rides a bike to work during the week, they will be entered into a contest for a new bicycle donated by Albrecht Cycle Shop. Prizes also include gift cards to local businesses.
Other event activities include: a bike safety check at Albrecht Cycle Shop from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday and 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Scheels; a bus and helmet demonstration at noon Tuesday at the Tyson Events Center; a discussion about a bike-friendly workplace at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Siouxland District Health Department and a bike planning open house at the Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council from noon to 1 p.m. and an evening cycle at the Dakota Dunes Surgery Center from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
