The city spent nearly $50,000 in overtime for city workers during the RAGBRAI and Pyrotechnic Guild International (PGI) events this summer, but the economic impact of the events was at least $3.5 million to $4 million, according to city figures released Tuesday.

For instance, he said, the city will need to allocate more funds for Fire Department and Public Works expensesif RAGBRAI (the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) makes Mason City an overnight stop again.
