The Children's Charity will give away 160 bicycles, helmets and locks to preselected children from four Des Moines schools during its Kids on the Go 2014 event Saturday.
Four Des Moines police officers will be on hand to teach the children about bicycle safety at the event, which begins at 10 a.m. at Willard Elementary School in Des Moines.
Volunteers will make sure that all the bicycles are adjusted and ready to go.
The bicycles were assembled by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. employees, and Packaging Distribution Services Inc. in Des Moines is supplying the trucks to transport the bikes.
