In a case of adding arrest to injury, an Iowa City man faces drug charges after he collided with a car while riding his bike.

North Liberty police officers were called to the intersection of Highway 965 and 240th Street at 8:35 p.m. Jan. 5 for a report of a car-bicycle crash. Responding officers found the bike rider, 57-year-old Robert H. Wickham, lying on the ground near his bike. Police said they could smell fresh marijuana near Wickham, who was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Police said an open bag containing a green, leafy substance that smelled like pot was attached to Wickham’s bike. A dugout and a one-hitter were also found near the bicycle, police said. The bike was taken to the police department for safe keeping after the collision, and the green, leafy substance tested positive for marijuana. Police said Wickham had more than two ounces of marijuana in the bag.

Wickham has been arrested and faces one count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a class D felony.

Ouch. I wonder how they "tested" the "green leafy substance"?
