Manning residents and visitors to Manning will notice two new trail systems starting in 2014.

The City of Manning was awarded a REAP or resource enhancement and protection grant this week.

The $75,000 grant will be used to construct a city park connector trail segment that will connect the Manning city park with the little league football field and soccer fields, the community gardens along with looping back to the little league baseball/softball fields. Construction of the trail will start with at least two segments in 2014.

Manning has applied for several grants the past two years to help raise money to install trails throughout Manning. Other communities that have benefited from REAP funding include the Rolling Hills trail in Carroll, the Riverside Park trail in Coon Rapids and the Northland Park trail in Glidden.
