Louisa County Conservation Director Katie Hammond assured the Board
of Supervisors Tuesday morning there's no intention to use local tax
dollars to complete trails in the county.Louisa County is in line
to receive a $1.3 million Scenic Byways Grant to build a bicycle path
along the Great River Road, provided a $700,000 local match is raised. A
Transportation Alternative Program grant of $119,371 has also been
awarded to Louisa County, provided matching funds of $125,699 are raised
in three years, for improvements to the Hoover Nature Trail that
include constructing a link to the Louisa County Fairgrounds.
Hammond
told the board that if County Engineer Larry Roehl's grant applications
for the matches aren't successful, she'll prepare grant applications to
the Washington County Riverboat Foundation.
"We're not going to use local tax money," she said.
