What it means?

if receives 60% approval, the Polk County Water & Land Legacy Bond will enable county supervisors to bond for funds over the next 20 years for:
  • Protecting water quality of rivers, lakes, and streams, including the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers and their tributaries.
  • Protecting drinking water sources, wildlife habitat and natural areas.
  • Protecting land to help prevent flooding.
  • Improving parks and trails.

The funds would be managed by Polk County Conservation and subject to full public disclosure as well as regular open budget hearings through the Polk County Conservation Board and the Board of Supervisors.
