The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and five girls Monday night just northeast of Rock Rapids, Iowa.

It happened at about 9:14 p.m. According to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, five teenage girls were riding their bikes south on K52 just northeast of Rock Rapids. Witnesses say the motorcyclist washeading south and tried swerving to miss the girls.

Three of the girls were struck from behind resultingininjuries toall three girls. Two of those girlswere severely injured and airliftedto Sioux Falls for further medical treatment and one was in surgery earlier Tuesday. The other injured girl, who was not airlifted,was released from the hospital Tuesday.

Witnesses say the motorcyclist was up and walking around after the accident. Stay with KSFY News for any updates.
