Please spread the word that we would like as many citizens as possible to attend the Dallas County Board of Supervisors’ meeting onTuesday, May 15, at 7 p.m. at 902 Court, Adel. Come a few minutes early to sign up to speak for a minute or so n your objections to this CAFO. We also encourage you to attend the planning and zoning commission meeting at 5 p.m. , also in the supervisors’ meeting room.
Although the advance public comment period is closed as of May 10, you can still write or call supervisors to register your objections. You can also bring written comments o the public meeting next Tuesday, and the board secretary has said she will enter them into the public record.
If the board approves the permit, the neighbors will continue to fight the CAFO, through the Iowa Department of Natural Resources permitting process, any appeal to the Environmental Protection Commission, and up to nd including a civil lawsuit if necessary. An attorney retained by the neighborhood will be present at the supervisors’ meeting next Tuesday.
Here is contact information for the Dallas County supervisors and the chair of the county planning and zoning ommittee. Please write or call today! Supervisor Kim Chapman said today that he has only gotten “a few” calls and emails on this issue. Let’s light up their phone lines and mailboxes!
