The following project was approved for grants awarded from the River Enhancement Community Attraction and Tourism (RECAT) Fund:
Des Moines River Trail, Phase 1 - Des Moines

Award Contingencies: Completion of fundraising in 30 days.
This project includes construction of a 2.5 mile trail along the Des Moines River from the Meredith Trail in downtown Des Moines to the James W. Cownie Soccer and Baseball Parks, with several street connections to the trail from adjacent neighborhoods along the way. Other project components: signage, kiosks, benches and resting points, scenic overlooks. This project is Phase One of a larger project that will eventually connect downtown Des Moines to Carlisle.
