Masoni City North Iowa bicyclists are organizing a scavenger hunt to raise donations for local charities. The event, known as "Cranksgiving" will take place Nov. 7 and will benefit the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank and the Humane Society of North Iowa. The North Iowa Bicycle Underground invites cyclists to meet at 1 p.m. at Lorados Bar and Grill on the Southbridge Plaza with their bikes, a bag and a bike lock. EVENT DETAILS The riders will be given a mystery shopping list they will have to follow in buying selected items at Mason City grocery stores. The riders will carry the items with them and meet back at Lorados to see who accomplished the task the quickest. Spectators are invited to come to Lorados and make a donation. All food items and cash donations will be given to the food bank and the Humane Society. Last year's event raised more than $700 in cash donations. More than 700 pounds of food was collected.
