Police in Sioux City have confirmed a man who was riding a bicycle in the downtown area has died after a collision earlier this month involving an SUV.
The collision happened on Friday, July 3, at the intersection of 4th and Douglas Streets in Downtown Sioux City.
At about 11:15 a.m. that Friday, Sioux City Police say a man was riding his bike north on Douglas Street while an SUV was also going north on Douglas.
Police say the SUV and bike collided, and the bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Monday, July 13, police told KTIV that the bicyclist had died from his injuries.
