A coast-to-coast relay to celebrate America's 250th anniversary begins next week on the west coast.
The American Discovery 250 relay will cover 6,800 miles from California to Delaware. Dave Whitson, coordinator of the American Discovery 250 Relay says the relay, "is a coast-to-coast relay following the American Discovery Trail, and the baton carries the Declaration of Independence, and we have three different batons, one is etched with the word 'life,' a second 'liberty,' and a third 'the pursuit of happiness.'"
The relay begins on July 1st on California's pacific coast and is scheduled to end in Delaware on Thanksgiving Day. Along the way, the relay will pass through Nebraska and Iowa.
The Iowa leg of the trip includes:
- 9/26 Saturday - Omaha to Red Oak (Bike)
- 9/27 Sunday - Red Oak to Audubon (Bike)
- 9/28 Monday - Audubon to Adel (Bike)
- 9/29 Tuesday - Adel to Des Moines (Run)
