What’s a Spring Classic?
It’s that first big outdoor test of the season - shaking off winter legs, dialing in fitness, chasing gravel, and reconnecting with the community. Early-season miles. Friendly competition. Honest effort. Post-ride stories.
Three great opportunities are coming up in March & April:
Whether you’re racing for the podium, tuning up for bigger goals, or just looking for that first big gravel day of the year - Spring Classics are where the season begins.
Winter fitness meets Iowa gravel. Registrations are open for all three races. Let’s go.
Where did Spring Classics Originate From?
In cycling, the Spring Classics are some of the sport’s most historic one-day races, held each year across Northern Europe. These legendary events - often fought over rough pavé and cobbles - kick off in late February and are steeped in tradition, grit, and prestige. Each race has its own personality, terrain, and story, but they all share one thing: they’re early-season tests of toughness and heart.
Iowa has embraced that spirit for years. Our own Spring Classics bring the same early-season energy - just swap cobbles for gravel and rolling Midwest roads. TheseIowa Spring Classics are our tribute to those great European races, celebrating fitness, resilience, and the start of another big cycling season.
