This upgrade from the previous bronze-level recognizes Cedar Rapids' commitment to developing transportation and recreational bike resources for people of all ages and abilities.
Initiatives include the expansion of the trail and bikeway system and events like Bike to Work Week and Ride the Districts.
"Cedar Rapids continues to be a welcoming community for cyclists," said Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell. She emphasized the city's projects, such as the Alliant Energy LightLine, which aim to encourage more residents and visitors to cycle.
City Manager Jeff Pomeranz praised the city staff's dedication to maintaining bike infrastructure and hosting events that promote cycling safety and engagement.
