The Bettendorf Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying two motorcyclists after responding to reports of them driving off the road and tearing up the Middle Park frisbee golf course on Wednesday evening.

Officers received the call around 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 7. Within three minutes, BPD arrived and said it found the motorcyclists driving illegally in the area. When officers tried to stop the riders, they fled at high speed down the Duck Creek Recreational Trail, a path meant for walkers and bicyclists.

"These individuals showed zero respect for public safety or our parks," BPD said in a post on Facebook.

BPD said officers did not pursue for safety reasons, but that the suspects nearly hit two bystanders near the Middle Road bridge. Both riders wore black outfits, and the bike descriptions are included below:

• Bike 1: Bright green and white, gas-powered
• Bike2: All black, battery powered

Using tips and videos, the motorcyclists were traced back to the Grant Wood School before police lost sight of them.
