A trails project in Dickinson County is planning for more growth after picking up state funding.
A $295,000 recreation trail grant will help the Dickinson County Bike Trail Association finish a connection with Clay County this year and provide funding for three additional miles in 2026.
Association Director Erin Reed told KCAU 9 that the Clay County Connection is part of the 135-mile Iowa Great Lakes Connection that will link several lakes in northwest Iowa.
Several existing shared-use paths will also be connected to the Iowa Great Lakes Trails, including paths in Carroll, Sac, Buena Vista, and Clay County.
