A 50-year-old man was critically injured Monday after being struck while riding a bicycle near the intersection of 16th St and Broadway in Council Bluffs. Emergency crews from Council Bluffs Fire & Rescue and local police responded quickly to the scene.
Upon arrival, first responders found the male victim unconscious but breathing. Rescue personnel from Engine 21 and Medic 2 began immediate medical care before initiating a Code 3 transport—indicating critical condition—to the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).
The collision occurred in a heavily trafficked area near downtown Council Bluffs, where Broadway serves as a key east-west corridor.
