May is National Foster Care Awareness Month and two organizations have partnered to give bikes to hundreds of kids in foster care in Iowa.

327 bikes will be given to children in foster care in northern and western Iowa.

“We want these kids to know that they are valued. And we want them to know that there are people who care about them. That see them. And will take care of them,” said Diana Christiansen, Beauty Amidst the Ashes Business Manager.

The non-profit “Beauty Amidst the Ashes” has a list of registered families. Volunteers shop for bikes that fit the kids according to gender and age. The non-profit got about $50,000 in donations to buy the bikes. Volunteers will deliver the bikes to Four Oaks Foster Care & Adoption, which distributes them to kids in seven locations across Iowa.
