UPDATE - Des Moines police say cyclist injured after failing to yield for truck in intersection
According to the Des Moines Police Department, the cyclist failed to yield to the right of way and was struck by a truck.
DMPD says the cyclist, an adult male, sustained serious injuries and first aid was started at the scene before he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further care.

The incident remains under investigation, DMPD said.
Des Moines police are investigating a crash that left one bicyclist with serious injuries in the Indianola Hills neighborhood Tuesday.
Just before 6 p.m., first responders arrived in the area near SE 5th Street and Pioneer Road after receiving a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash, according to a news release.
