Dr. Bob Breedlove Tribute

The ride from Algona to Northwood on July 27 will be dedicated to the memory of Dr. Bob Breedlove, who died June 23 while participating in the Race Across America. As a tribute to Dr. Bob, RAGBRAI riders are asked to wear orange jerseys or shirts. Special memorial orange wristbands and "Dr. Bob" commemorative t-shirts can be purchased from Bike World before the ride and at its tent during the ride. The shirts will also be available at the RAGBRAI booth the week of the ride. All proceeds from the t-shirt sales go to the Des Moines Trails Foundation in memory of Dr. Breedlove. At 7:30 p.m. that night on the community stage on the east side of Northwood, there will be a tribute ceremony that will include a proclamation from Gov. Tom Vilsack. Mementos from Dr. Bob's life will also be on display for all to view his many great accomplishments. These wristbands will be for sale on RAGBRAI and in the BIKE WORLD stores for $3 each or 2 for $5 at our t-shirt stand.
