A driver who was charged with hitting a Cedar Falls bicyclist while he had opioids in his system is now charged with selling fentanyl.
Police arrested Ryan Anderson Pontasch, 42, of Waterloo, on Wednesday for one count of possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver. He was released pending trial.
Court records allege that on Monday night – while out on bond for the crash – Pontasch sold 25 counterfeit fentanyl pills for $250 to a person at his Rainbow Drive home. The transaction was paid for using Cash App, court records indicate.
Authorities with the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force allege Pontasch had acquired 100 pills earlier that day before the sale, and officers found fentanyl pills in his bedroom.

Also Wednesday, Pontasch formally pleaded not guilty to a charge of serious injury by vehicle, a felony, in the March 13 collision on West 12th Street.
