Sunday, July 13 – 29th Annual B-4 Bike Ride
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM | Ride departs from Lakeshore Cyclery
What started as a casual group ride has grown into a Storm Lake tradition. The B-4 Bike Ride (short for “Bike Before RAGBRAI”) is a scenic, supported 30-ish mile loop through Buena Vista County, rolling from Storm Lake to Hanover, Alta, or Schaller and back.
The ride kicks off at 9:00 AM from the shop and includes multiple fun stops along the way, stocked with refreshments, cold drinks, fresh fruit, and friendly vibes. Riders of all skill levels are welcome — whether you’re tuning up your legs for RAGBRAI or just in it for the scenery, community, and sunshine.
When you return, the celebration continues with a free BBQ lunch, refreshments, and entertainment back at Lakeshore Cyclery. The B-4 Ride is a great way to cap off the weekend with camaraderie, good food, and the unmistakable feel of small-town Iowa hospitality.

Four Generations. One Legendary Bike Shop.
Founded in 1985 by Larry Godfredson, Lakeshore Cyclery has grown into a regional destination for cyclists from across Iowa and beyond. But the Godfredson family’s cycling legacy stretches even further back - over 80 years and four generations.
Today, Larry’s son Riley is the 4th generation Godfredson continuing the tradition of expert service, quality gear, and community engagement. From full bike fits and custom builds to one of the state’s largest selections of e-bikes, Lakeshore Cyclery is more than a bike shop - it’s an experience.
?? Inventory & Brands
With over 1,000 bikes in stock, they carry:
Mountain, road, cruiser, kids, BMX, recumbents, tandems & more
E-bikes galore
Top brands like Cannondale, Specialized, GT, TerraTrike, Gazelle, Marin, and more
Bike rentals, including tandems and side-by-sides
Used bikes and trade-ins available
They’re also a Certified Shimano Service Center and Bosch E-Bike Certified, with a knowledgeable staff ready to help with overhauls, upgrades, or your next dream build.
Antique Bicycle Museum
Housed inside the shop is a jaw-dropping museum featuring over 75 vintage and rare bicycles - from an 1868 boneshaker to high-wheelers, circus bikes, wooden wheels, WWI folding bikes, and original Sting-Rays. Open anytime the store is.
Looking Ahead
The Godfredsons aren’t just reflecting on the past - they’re building for the future. Riley has proposed a new trail loop to circle all of Storm Lake, adding 7 more miles to the existing trail system. It’s part of their mission to make Storm Lake safer, more rideable, and a destination for cyclists across the Midwest.
Join us July 12–13 to celebrate 40 years of family-owned cycling excellence. Ride, explore, and be part of a truly special milestone for Lakeshore Cyclery and the Storm Lake community.
