The Norfolk Classic
The Norfolk Classic powered by Monster! returns June 9th and 10th for its second year bigger and better! The Elkhorn Valley Cycling Cycling Club powered by Monster has taken the best from the first year of the Classic and added an old favorite to put together a race that is truly worthy of the name "Classic."
This year the race will be an omnium format. Only two of the three races need be completed to qualify for the overall win (one must be the criterium) and entry fees are broken out by day - Saturday entry fee gets you into the road race, the time trial or both! Sunday entry fee is for the criterium. The finishers of each race will be awarded points down to 20 places. First place in the RR and TT are each worth 20 points but first in the crit is 35 points making the crit finish the determining factor for the weekend.
This year, riders will receive payouts/medals for each race entered and yellow leader jerseys from Monster will be awarded at the end of each day to select category leaders. Additionally, omnium payouts and/or medals will be awarded after the criterium for qualifying entrants.
Returning venues this year are the time trial route and the popular crit course. Added for 2007 is the Stanton road race route in the hills of southeast Stanton County. Those that have raced it speak of it reverently and new racers will leave with a new respect for northeast Nebraska race venues. The 2007 Norfolk Classic is part of the 2007 Nebraska Rider of the Year series and is the second stop of three for USCF/NORBA racing in Northeast Nebraska.
