In 2018, Peace Be The Journey began as a grassroots effort by Mike and Amanda Peterson of Decorah, Iowa to bring awareness to mental illness. Amanda has faced personal mental illness since childhood, and discovered she felt peace through openly sharing her story...her journey. Thus the family bike ride event, Peace Be The Journey, began and quickly gained community support as a health and effective way to share the important message of mental health advocacy. In 2019, the event was rained out, and in 2020, canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the message and vision of Mike and Amanda remains vitally important, now more then ever.

We will be having a key note speaker Sheriff Dan Marx, bouncy house with Covid restrictions, lunch at cost. Check out our poster (when it is posted here) to see all the details and back story. This ride is a ten mile loop on the Trout Run Trail Decorah Iowa. Our focus is on suicide this year and crushing the stigma that it's not play to talk about it. Next year we are hoping to add "Mikes 50" a 50 mile on the highway and roads looping back to the fish hatchery.
