UPDATE March 20th 2020 -
COVID-19 UPDATE -  If we are unable to have this ride, we will switch to a Facebook LIVE event where we can still honor those whose names have been added to the list this year.  Stay Tuned

UPDATE March 16th 2020
-  We are optimistic and hopeful that the COVID-19 virus will be behind us soon, but will continue to monitor and follow the advice of our local and state officials. In the event we must cancel or postpone the Ride of Silence, we will post the update well ahead of the event date. RIDE SAFE and STAY HEALTHY.

2020 marks the 16th year that we have been hosting a Ride of Silence in Des Moines.

Our Facebook LIVE event begins at 6:30 and should last 20 minutes. At that point, YOU can go for your own 'ride of silence' in memory of those we mentioned and for those already on the list.

We'll still have a shout-out at the end for those who YOU are riding in memory for, so plan to participate.

We'll sure miss the photo op at the State Capitol this year! Those photos always make a powerful statement. See you in person in 2021!

Join cyclists nationwide in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on America's public roadways. Check out the 2008 Ride of Silence Video

Why does this ride exist?

  1. To HONOR those who have been injured or killed
  2. To RAISE AWARENESS that we are here
  3. To ask that we all SHARE THE ROAD

THE RIDE OF SILENCE WILL NOT BE QUIET On May 20th, the Ride of Silence will roll across the country, starting at 7:00 pm. Over 370+ U.S.locations in all 50 states and 52 other countries in all 7 continents will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.

Please ride a slow 10-12 mph or less.

Iowa "Ride of Silence" Statistics

Please review for a list of present and past cyclists we have called out before each ride.

See someone NOT on the list? - Please email and we will add them to the list ASAP!
