The Freedom Bike Ride will be back again this year and this fundraiser bicycle event will take place on Sunday, June 23, 2019! From training wheels to triathlon competitors, all are welcome at the 3rd annual Red, Ride, and Blues Freedom Bike Ride! This new and improved ride will include two different loop routes, 28 miles and 45 miles, that will pass though Marion, Cedar Rapids, Center Point, and Hiawatha. This year the theme will be root beer! From kegs of root beer, to root beer floats, to maybe even pulled pork root beer sandwiches?! this theme will capture it all!
Registered riders have the opportunity to choose from two different loop routes. One is approximately 28 miles and the other is approximately 45 miles, with sponsored rest stops along the way. The 45 mile route goes through Layfette and then through downtown Cedar Rapids and the Newbo area. The 28 mile route heads straight to downtown and Newbo and comes through Hiawatha, before returning to Lowe Park in Marion. 45 mile route begins at 10:30am and 28 mile route begins at 11:00am. Same day registration starts at 8:00am.
Decorate your bicycle in red, white and blue gear, for a chance to win prizes! Get a group of friends together and get in the patriotic spirit! The designated stops will includes Lucky Penny (45 mile route), Sag Wagon downtown, Papa Juan's, Parlor City Ice Cream, Lion Bridge, Almost Famous Popcorn, and Iowa Brewing Company. Ice creams stops included for those non-drinkers/underage individuals.
