Description

Road

Distance - Approximately 13 miles

They glow…they sparkle…they pedal.  Hundreds of cyclists light up their bikes and take to the streets of downtown Des Moines each year to participate in our Moonlight Classic.  It has become a yearly tradition for individuals, families and corporate teams.  They ride because it’s fun, but also because it’s more than just a bike ride.  They know their support of this event raises funds critical to helping children and teens in Iowa challenged by mental health issues and emotional disorders and served by Orchard Place.

Join us for this unique night bike ride in downtown Des Moines for casual and seasoned riders alike.  13-mile route includes great downtown sites, the Capitol, Pappajohn Park, Grand Avenue, Water Works Park and Grays Lake.  Anchored at the new Iowa Taproom, 215 E. 3rd Street in the East Village area, this year's ride will feature a full moon, bike lighting, helmet lighting, costume and team bus competitions.  Gather your friends and compete for the Moonlight Cup for the largest team.  Great prizes for all contest winners!  Live band, Boomerang, will perform before and after the ride.
