With spring finally here, the urge to spend time outdoors grows as temperatures warm and days lengthen, and a full-service bike shop in Paullina is ready to help folks get back on two wheels.

It’s the weather everyone has been waiting for that makes Paullina Bicycle Company a busy place this time of year.

Owner Eric Brown is busy repairing bikes and helping riders select new ones as they seek to return to a more active lifestyle.

The shop located inside Paullina Hardware at 104 E. Broadway St. downtown offers full-service repair on any bicycle brand and sells refurbished and new models from a growing list of brands including Diamondback, Redline and State Bicycle Co. The shop’s selection also includes Aventon electric bikes.

Brown’s repair and maintenance service brings bikes to life that have been sitting in the corner of a building for months or years.

Each spring when pulling a bike out from winter storage for the first time, Brown said checking tire pressure is almost always the first thing to do, and usually some air will need to be added.

Next, he said to check for “play” or looseness in the wheels, handlebars, stem and wheel cranks.
