The Raccoon River Valley Trail is a 89-mile-long paved trail along the branches of the beautiful Raccoon River through Greene, Guthrie and Dallas Counties in west central Iowa. It includes the communities of Jefferson, Cooper, Herndon, Yale, Panora, Linden, Redfield, Adel and Waukee. And, going east, the RRVT connects with the extensive trail system in Iowa’s capital city of Des Moines. A 33-mile-long “North Loop,” was added in the Summer of 2013 that included the communities of Dallas Center, Minburn, Perry, Dawson and Jamaica.
Trail permit fees help maintain this extensive world-class trail system.
Beginning with 2021 trail permits, your numbered electronic receipt will act as your permit and will be sent to your email address.
A trail user permit is required for trail users 18 years of age and over on all sections of the trail owned and managed by the three county conservation boards; Dallas, Guthrie and Greene Counties.
Annual permits are $10.00 and are valid January through December.
If you don’t have internet access, annual permits are available for purchase with a green envelope at any trail head or at Dallas County Conservation Board administration office at Forest Park Museum, 14581 K Avenue, Perry, IA from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Daily permits are $2.00 and may be purchased with a white envelope at the trail heads, Dallas County Conservation Board administration office or some businesses. These are not available online.
