Iowa businessman and former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Fred Hubbell was hit by a car while riding his bike in Scottsdale, Arizona.
According to David Adelman, a family friend who spoke on behalf of the Hubbells, a motorist ran a red light and struck Hubbell on Friday. Hubbell has undergone two different surgeries for a broken pelvis. The injuries are not life-threatening but will require significant physical therapy, he said.
The Hubbells own a home in Scottsdale.
