The granGABLE will return for its third year on Sunday, September 6, 2015. The granGABLE was created as a tribute to Dan Gable, a legendary athlete and coach, and to benefit two local non-profits as part of FRY fest weekend, a celebration of all that is Hawkeye. It brings together the wrestling and cycling communities for a fun and rewarding day of riding.
Riders can choose to ride 25, 60 or 100 miles. Riders who complete the century are called "Gable Trained" and receive the highly sought after completion medal. Dan Gable interacts with the riders and gets on a bike himself for a stretch of the route. RAGBRAI, the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, Hawkeye Wrestling Club, and Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau tag team to produce this one-of-a-kind event, with the support of presenting sponsor Scheels.
Registration is open and routes are now posted online. Visit granGABLE.com for details.
