"When man invented the bicycle, he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entriely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle." - Elizabeth West

To the editor:
To the person that stole my bicycle Thursday:
It’s pretty cold-hearted to steal a bike on one of the hottest days so far this year. What really gets me is that there’s someone out there willing to steal a bike from behind Wendy’s. Obviously, if I’m riding a bicycle to my fast food job, I don’t have much money. I was waiting for my pay on Friday so I could buy a lock. Now I don’t have a bike to defend.
I’ll be walking to Wendy’s, so maybe, after a few months of scrimping and saving, I’ll be able to get another bike. Perhaps you could just drop my bike back off where you found it. I’d even buy you a junior bacon cheeseburger to get it back.
The person could have walked in and possibly gotten a job and they wouldn’t have needed to steal my bike. Save and buy your own.
