Bike Tech Racing Happenings

This site provides information on Iowa’s premier brevet cycling events, organized by Cedar Valley Cyclists.

In 2005 CVC is offering a complete Super Randonneur Series of 200, 300, 400km and 600km brevets in 2005. The routes are nested, in each case heading NE from Waterloo. All routes are out-and-back, except for the 600km, which forms a “lollipop”.

Chain Reaction is an established bicycling club located in Dubuque and drawing a active membership of approximately 200 people from the Tri-State area. Chain Reaction was originally formed with a primary interest in mountain biking and has evolved to encompass both road and mountain biking with an emphasis on training and racing. Locally, it is an active part of our mission to promote safe and enthusiastic enjoyment of our sport. Racing members range in age from 9 to 60+ and represent the Club within our entire region; from north of Colesburg, to south of Bellevue and west of Dyersville to east of Galena.
For many years, Chain Reaction has promoted an annual series of races known as The Soul Series. The Soul Series is typically comprised of 6 to 8 races. These are multi-disciplined, from road races to mountain bike time trials. Several of our hallmark events are The Iowa State Road Race Championships, The Eagle Point Criterium and the Blockhouse Roll Mountain Bike Festival. These races are well-regarded and attract competitors from the entire Midwest

Hawkeye Bicycle Association (HBA) was established in 1971 to promote bicycling and bicycling safety in the Cedar Rapids area.

Based in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the Henry County High Wheelers support family bike rides beginning in May, the Ride Around Henry County in July and attend numerous rides sponsored by other clubs. We are also a sponsor of the Henry County Recreation Trails Association, an organization devoted to planning and building recreation trails around Henry County.

IM BMX is dedicated to help the sport of BMX grow in Iowa by becoming a leading team for the development of young riders. Creating a positive image of the BMX sport by introducing it to riders and their families where they can enjoy an afternoon together. We believe that healthy competition builds undeniable character and work ethics for racers. Our goal is to help young riders develop these traits, learn how to set goals and achieve them.

Iowa Outdoor Unlimited (IOU) is a group of like minded people who enjoy spending time in the outdoors. We were founded in 2005 and since then have camped, kayaked, canoed, caved, cross-country skied, downhill skied, climbed and done many other outdoor activities. As our name suggests we want to be unlimited in the types of outdoor activities we try. During our first year we had 26 different events and did our best to educate members on those sports. A focus of our group is to band together to teach each other about the great outdoors and outdoor sports. Everyone 18 and older is welcome to join our group. After all we were founded to help people make connections so you never have to go it alone.

Randonneur (brevet) cycling events organized under the regulations of Randonneurs USA. HQ in Waterloo, IA.

Randonneuring: Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.

The Iowa Valley Bicycle Club (IVBC of Marshalltown) was formed in 1974 to promote recreational bicycling and bicycle safety. From the initial mission, IVBC has been active in programs such as the bike safety rodeo program of the after school Allstars program, donating helmets to children, providing traffic control for the Oktemberfest 10 K run and the Corn Carnival Triathlon, and assisting the Adopt a Highway Program. Through donations it has also aided in the development of the Marshalltown Bike Path and the Discovery America Trail.

The IMBA affiliated Kennedy Mt. Biking Club (Chain Gang) is a small group of off-road cycling enthusiasts with three main goals: 1 – Ride. 2 – Race. 3 – Advocacy.

The purpose of the North Iowa Spin Race Team (an affiliate of the North Iowa Touring Club) is to promote good health, friendships and safety while offering competitive cycling to all ages and skill levels in North Iowa. We have about 190 people in are group. We ride every Thursday night all year. During the summer we Ride the Wabash Trace in southwest Iowa. During the winter we ride the Keystone Trail in Omaha, Neraska. We have hosted this ride over 5 years and still have fun evary week. some call this the Taco Ride. we call it TNR.

We are a local cycling club that is geared toward having fun. We are involved in the IORCA Mtn Bike Racing Series, as well as competing in other regional events. Our team hosts and organizes mtb racing events in Central Iowa. We currently also promote, organize and race in the only 24 hr. mtb race in the state.
