Working for our kids and grand kids future and their opportunities in Iowa

Dear Friends and Family,

I am excited to announce that I am running for State Senate District 47 which covers part of Wapello County, including the city of Ottumwa and includes all of Davis, Appanoose and Wayne counties. My official announcement will take place at 9:00am on January 29th at the Bridge View Center. I would like to invite you to attend. Please feel free to bring anyone who may be interested in sharing my vision for Iowa.

Like you, I am upset with the unsustainable levels of spending that has lead to a record one billion dollar Iowa deficit. Iowans are facing significant property tax increases and a budget that does not reflect the true priorities of Iowans. Poor decisions by Keith Kreiman and other legislators have put Iowa in a difficult financial position. Companies are making the decision to locate their businesses outside of Iowa due to unreasonable tax structures and excessive regulation. As your senator, I will only vote for a responsible and fiscally sustainable budget that reflects your priorities and keeps our taxes low.

I have given running for office a lot of thought and feel it is my duty as a Father, Husband and Iowan to do everything in my power to bring fiscal responsibility to Des Moines.

As an entrepreneur and creator of a manufacturing business, I have experience in business development, job creation and financial management. I am running as a Republican and will stand firm on minimizing government, adherence to the Iowa Constitution and focusing on finding new ways for entrepreneurs like me to create private sector jobs so we can grow our state. We should stop punishing the business people and their investors for believing in the great state of Iowa.

I am honored to have the support of Senate Republican Leader, Paul McKinley and Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley.

I appreciate your support both personally and if possible, financially.

Thank you,
Mark Chelgren
