Man Turns Himself In For Fatal Bike Crash
(posted 9/14/2009)      View all News Items
  INDIANOLA, Iowa

A Warren County man turned himself in to authorities Monday morning in connection with a fatal bicycle crash.

Paul McKinney, 80, appeared in court with his attorney. He was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash, concealing evidence and failure to maintain control.

The crash on Aug. 30 killed Mark Grgurich, 54, of Des Moines. The crash happened along a rural Warren County road.

"This whole incident arises out of a tragic traffic accident," said Terry Wright, McKinney's attorney.

Wright asked that his client not be taken into custody due to his age and poor health. The judge decided he should be taken into custody.

McKinney is being held on a $10,000 bond.

He is expected back in court on Sept. 22 for his arraignment.
