May 22nd
  • A Bike To Work Recap with video was posted
  • What a week! All pictures have been posted along with post event results for each day. Check them out.
  • PRIZE WINNERS were updated
  • THANKS to everyone this week for participating in Bike To Work Week 2006! Make 2006 your Bike To Work YEAR!

May 19th
  • Handle Bar Happy Hour at Romeo's on the river was a great time. Lots of cyclists cruising in an out all evening long. - (results)
  • PRIZE WINNERS are now drawn!

May 15th
  • A rainy night turned beautiful morning as we got ready to commute with Congressman Boswell and his staff. 35-40 cyclists commuted in with the Congressman - (results)
  • A bike Rack unveiling and dedication too place in East Village just minutes before a small rain shower scattered everyone into nearby businesses. Was that planned Carl? Thanks to Carl Voss for organizing this event. (view results)
  • Going to bed now for the Celebrity, Bus, Bike & Car Challenge in the morning!

May 13th
  • A chilly day at the Farmer's Market, but over 150 registration packets were handed out as well as a 100+ Des Moines Trails maps. A grea turnout!

May 12th
  • A couple more gift certificates were added to the prize listing! Prizes will be listed late (after 11 p.m.) on Thursday, May 18th.
  • Made some follow-up calls for the events!
  • Getting packets ready to go for the Farmer's Market in the morning. See you there!

May 10th
  • A new event was added - Bike to Work with Congressman Boswell on Monday May 15th!
  • Updated Registation Packet Pick-up Locations
  • The Principal Financial Group will be having a Healthy Advantage Fair on Thursday, May 18 from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm. LIVE registraton and Bike To Work information will be available. If already registered, you can pick up your packet here! (sorry - Principal employees only!)
  • EMC Insurance Company will be having a Health & Activities Fair on Tuesday, May 16 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. LIVE registraton and Bike To Work information will be available. If already registered, you can pick up your packet bag here! (sorry - EMC employees only!)
  • Updated several Staging Location's information.
    • Staging Locaton #2 (Beaver and Urbandale) has another Staging Captain, John Washburn, whose destination will be Pioneer.
    • Keith Belling has volunteered for Staging Captain at the #4 Staging Location - Hy-Vee on Fleur
    • Rasmussen's Bike Shop from Altoona will be at the #6 Staging Location - Hy-Vee on SE 14th
    • Staging Location #13's destination has changed and will not go all the way into downtown which should work great for most cyclists since you can peel off anywhere along the route.
  • A ride in conjuction with Bike To Work Week has been added for Sunday May 21st that will start in three cities and end at Geode State Park. It's called the Southeast Iowa Regional Bicycle Fleche.
  • The booth location has been narrowed down for the Farmer's Market Packet Pick up on Saturday, May 13th. Look for the BIKE To Work Banner at 2nd & Court!

May 2nd

April 25th
  • Added and updated several new Staging Locations
    Thanks to Andrea Chase of the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission for coordinating all the new locations!
  • noted that the Staging Location map works best with Internet Explorer and not FireFox
  • Added Bicycling Magazine 250 greatest cycling tips as a freebie after registering
  • Those who register who register from Burlington, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mt. Pleasant or any other community close by can pick up their water bottle at the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission Memorial Auditorium 200 Front Street, Ste 400 Burlington, IA 52601

April 23rd
  • Increased Gas per gallon cost to $2.87 per gallon
  • Added 'Gasoline Saved' section to Statistics page
