Iowa By Trail

Weather permitting, I ride this trail daily and have clocked more than 15,000 miles on it. That's right, 15,000 miles over a period of several years. It's 8.25 miles from the east end in Riverview Park to Grimes Farm Conservation Center on the west end. It's as flat as flat can be because the east 5 miles is built in top of the levee that protects Marshalltown from flooding on Linn Creek and the Iowa River. The west 3.25 miles parallels the Union Pacific grade on one side and Linn Creek on the other. The surface is in good but not perfect condition. Recently, cracks were filled. It is well maintained in my opinion. It's gratifying to see more people using it every year.
