A woman was hurt after a driver of a truck struck her bicycle from behind in a hit-and-run crash Friday afternoon in rural Cerro Gordo County.

Abby Rodriguez, 34, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, was riding her bike southbound on Balsam Avenue, near 170th Street, about 12:21 p.m. when she was struck from behind by a blue 2005 Ford F-150, according to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the truck, identified as Joseph McLaughlin, 65, of Belmond, left the scene and was later located by the Iowa State Patrol in Franklin County, the department said in a press release.

McLaughlin was arrested for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and open container.

Rodriguez was transported to Mercy Medical Center--North Iowa by Garner Ambulance.

The extent of her injuries is unclear. A spokesperson at Mercy said a condition report was not available for Rodriguez.
