‘24 hours of pure awesomeness’ promised for overnight stop
Aloha, Newton. The city’s RAGBRAI committee unveiled the theme, “Aloha Mahalo — Newton 2018,” and logo for the overnight stop on July 25 during a town hall meeting on Monday at DMACC. “Aloha translates to ‘hello’ while Mahalo translates to ‘goodbye’ and ‘thank you,’” publicity chair Craig Armstrong said.
The theme was chosen to give a festive summer feel, welcoming the cyclist and visitors to the community and conveying an atmosphere of fun in Newton. In selecting the theme, committee members thought it would be memorable and easy to carry out by the various committees and volunteers.
