CLEAR LAKE | A Clear Lake man police say was dragged more than 150 feet after being hit by a car remained hospitalized Wednesday morning.

Gary Beach, 47, was hit Tuesday afternoon while riding along Main Avenue near 22nd Street South in Clear Lake. Police described his injuries as "significant" and "substantial."

Police say Beach was dragged by the westbound Hyundai Velosterand that one of his legs, along with his bike, became stuck underneath the front of the car.

They say Beach freed himself from underneath the car.

He was taken to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

A hospital spokeswoman said Beach was listed in fair condition Wednesday morning.

No charges have been filed. The case remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol assisted Clear Lake police with the investigation.
