MASON CITY | A man who pleaded guilty to stealing bicycles during break-ins on two different occasions in Mason City has been given suspended prison sentences.

Jesse Rafael, 21, Mason City, received a 10-year suspended sentence and five years probation for second-degree burglary and a five-year suspended prison sentence and five years probation for third-degree burglary Wednesday in Cerro Gordo County District Court.

He was ordered to spend 180 days at a residential correctional facility or until maximum benefits are achieved on each count. Fines of $1,000 and $750 were suspended.

Rafael was accused of stealing a Raleigh bicycle on May 16 from a residence in the 400 block of 21st Street Southwest and a Green Trek mountain bike on May 21 from a residence in the 1200 block of Moonstone Court, according to court documents.
