Just as she’s done the past four summers,Kelsey Reganplans to pedal one leg of next week’s RAGBRAI — the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa.

She initially purchased a bike from Healthy Habits in Bettendorf to participate in the weeklong event, but she’s never actually tagged along for the entire stretch. That’s not her style.

In 2013, however, the Davenport native biked 280 miles across the state from Council Bluffs to Muscatine in19 hours and 24 minutes, a record certified by theUltraMarathon Cycling Association. The following summer, she setanother recordby biking 380 miles from the southern border of Wisconsin to Lake Superior in 22 hours.

Last weekend, the 25-year-old ultracyclist rode the length of Illinois from Cairo north to Warren, a427-mile trek,in 25 hours and 20 minutes, traveling at an average speed of 18.8 mph.
