MASON CITY — Two North Iowa organizations will each receive $75,000 matching grants from the Wellmark Foundation for development and implementation of wellness and prevention projects.

One of the recipients is the Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board for phase one of the Mason City-to-Meservey railroad right-of-way trail development.

The board is developing an abandoned railroad line from Mason City to Meservey and converting it into a walking and bicycle trail. The overall trail will be 21 miles long. The grant is to develop the first 6 miles of it.
