CLIVE, Iowa —The Clive Greenbelt and Trail system has been closed, according to Clive city officials.

The closure comes as flood waters have covered most of the trail, said Matt McQuillen, assistant city manager, in a news release.

The National Weather Service indicates Walnut Creek could crest as high as 10 ½ feet at Interstate 80/35 Sunday night due to additional rainfall.

So far, Walnut Creek has reached a level of six feet.

McQuillen said the city could have additional closures along Swanson Blvd. and 92nd Court.

Officials encourage drivers to avoid driving vehicles through flooded streets and find an alternative route.

The city is expected to announce when the Clive Greenbelt Park and Trail is reopened when the flood waters recede.

I was on the Greenbelt Trail yesterday afternoon and it's all clear and open. You could see that large areas of muck had been scraped off and the trail was dry and puddle free. Many Thanks to the great work by the crews who do the work to get the trail open as soon as possible after these events!
