After being
unsuccessful last year, the Council Bluffs Parks Department wants to try
again for a grant to help fund a recreational trail along Railroad
Highway to connect with a proposed Pottawattamie County trail.
The department will
ask for approval from the City Council on Monday evening to apply for
an Iowa State Recreational Trails Program grant.
“It’s an important project, so we want to make an effort again,” Parks Director Larry Foster said. “It’s a shot in the dark.”
The city would like to extend a
trail at Kanesville Boulevard and Railroad Highway that would go about a
mile north to the city limits, where it would connect with a proposed
county trail going on to Underwood, Neola and beyond.
